Israel Wiesen (1835-1900) was a German schoolteacher. Though not a well-known figure, Wiesen had an avid interest in the visual world. We follow the development of his visual creations, beginning with traditional Judaica art to a series of works that highlight personalities from the Jewish world and display the dramatic changes in the world of traditional German Jewry.
