Step aside, Jack Sparrow and Captain Hook, and clear the way for the legendary Jewish pirate, who coincidentally is also a rabbi and a gentleman - Don Samuel Pallache. On his pirate ship, there was a chef who cooked kosher food and a small synagogue, but if you called him a Diaspora Jew, he probably wouldn't turn around. So how did this strictly observant rabbi end up in this questionable trade, and who were the other Jewish pirates who lived by their swords at sea?
