Thousands of letters of support from around the world reached the small shack to which she was exiled in Siberia, and her life story was even immortalized in a song that Naomi Shemer dedicated to her. Ida Nudel was just a diligent economist for most of her life, until the persecution of the Jews in the Soviet Union made her the brave and iconic voice of generations of Jews who dreamed of Zion.
In the fifth episode of “Muses”, Maya Kosover outlines the character of Ida Nudel – the woman who is remembered as the “guardian angel of the prisoners of Zion” and whose struggle for liberation and aliya to Israel bound the entire Jewish world to her.
