Parashat Va’eira – The Symbolism of the Staff

The motif of the staff is mentioned repeatedly in this Parasha in different contexts. Sometimes the staff is used to influence an individual, sometimes to perform miracles and create meaningful signs in front of a wider audience. We will discuss the various tra  its of the staff as found in different Jewish texts.
