Parashat Ki Tissa: The Second Tablets | Rabbi Shai Finkelstein

We have the privilege of living in a historic, biblical-level moment in the life of our nation. This privilege demands from us faith, dedication, steadfast commitment to our purpose, and patience. We are witnessing revealed miracles as well as painful tragedies, yet we do not lose hope. We continue in the “Lech Lecha” journey of our forefather Abraham. We do not succumb to faintness or weariness, and we do not allow Amalek to delay us along the way.

The sin of the Golden Calf deeply affected the relationship between Moses and the Israelites, and of course between God and the people.

Yet after Moses pleads for forgiveness, God responds and instructs him to create new tablets. How can these man-made tablets be compared to the original ones which were the work of God?
