Where are the Jewish women

The Renaissance is often considered tolerant towards mankind and its needs - towards sex,  equality and democracy and towards different religions; this would suggest a similar move towards equality of women. Yet Medieval and Renaissance women remain vague, shadowy presences, existing only on the periphery of history and in the margins of literary culture. What actually took place and what was the role of Jewish women in Renaissance Italy?
