 Unetaneh Tokef is the most famous Piyyut (Liturgical Poem) recited on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In this lecture, we shall try to understand what does the phrase “kivnei maron” mean? Do repentance, prayer and tzedakah really avert the severe decree?
