Reuven was the eldest son of Leah and Jacob, but his character is presented as a tragic figure who fails to fulfill his potential. Why was Reuven deprived of his birthright which was given to Judah, Levi and Joseph? What were Reuven's vulnerabilities which brought about the loss of his birthright?
