One of the central events of our parashah is the sale of the birthright. The Torah describes it as a negotiation between Esau and Jacob which ended with the sale. This story raises questions regarding the legality of the sale and its morality. Why did Esau despise his birthright after selling it? Why was it so easy for him to give it up without hesitation or concern for his future?
