In celebration of Hanukkah, Beit Avi Chai will host the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra & Shahar Choir led by solo vocalists with a performance of movements from Judas Maccabaeus, an oratorio by Georg Friedrich Händel to the text of Thomas Morell.

The event will include a historical commentary by Prof. Isaiah Gafni who will examine the origins of the oratorio's libretto, the periodical influences on the content of the writing and how the music found its way to the Zionist culture.

The Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra established the historical performance scene in Israel and is today the leading body for the performance of Baroque music with the historical instruments of the period and in the period style.
