Parashat Toldot: Rebecca and the water jug

Rabbi Prof. Dalia Marx will talk with curator Galit Bennett-Dahan about Rebecca, whom we meet as she carries her jug to the well. At the meeting we will talk about dealing with the family complexities that Rebecca comes up against with Isaac and with her sons.

The Israel Museum is hosting Beit Avi Chai for a series of meetings that include a slightly different conversation about the weekly Torah portion.

Every week, Prof. Avigdor Shinan or Rabbi Prof. Dalia Marx will talk with the museum's curators about the notable figures and topics that arise from the week's parashah or haftara. The meetings are filmed in the natural environment of the works and exhibits in the museum halls. In this way the Jewish texts and their interpretations are examined against the world of images and museum exhibits, and the combinations create a new and completely unconventional point of view.
